Eczema or dermatitis is a term for several different types of skin swelling that cause dry, itchy skin and rashes on the face, elbows, behind the knees, and on the hands and feet. Scratching the skin can cause it to swell and itch even more, and may turn red.
Fusidate H Cream is a combination of Fusidic acid and Hydrocortisone which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics and Corticosteroids respectively. It is used to manage conditions where the skin is inflamed (eczema or dermatitis) and infected or to manage infection by bacteria.

Treatment of Eczema and dermatitis.
It manages affected skin where Fusidic acid works against the bacteria by interfering with their protein synthesis. Hydrocortisone reduces swelling, redness, or itchiness of your skin by decreasing relaxation and permeability of vessels, as well as leukocyte migration to sites of inflammation.
Itching, Burning sensation, Irritation
Fusidate H Cream is a combination of two drugs, namely Fusidic acid and Hydrocortisone, which reduces swelling, itching, and redness caused due to bacterial skin infections.
Fusidic acid is a narrow-spectrum antibiotic that is active against Gram-positive bacteria and works by inhibiting the production of essential proteins necessary for bacteria to grow, multiply, and increase in numbers.
Hydrocortisone is a corticosteroid that acts inside skin cells and inhibits the release of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause redness, itching, and swelling. When the skin reacts to any allergens, such chemicals are released normally.
Fusidic Acid 2% & Hydrocortisone Acetate 1% combination cream contains the potent topical antibacterial action of Fusidic Acid with the anti-inflammatory & anti-pruritic effects of Hydrocortisone Acetate. When applied topically, Fusidic Acid is effective against Staphylococci, Streptococci, Corynebacteria, Neisseria, and certain Clostridia & Bacteroides. Fusidic Acid is an antimicrobial agent that acts as an inhibitor of protein synthesis in the microorganism. It interferes with the translocation step by stabilizing the ribosome-guanosine diphosphate elongation factor G-complex. This prevents the binding of aminoacyl t-RNA to the ribosome and thereafter stops the transfer of additional amino acids to the growing polypeptide. In humans, Hydrocortisone is the principal naturally occurring glucocorticosteroid. In pharmaceutical dosage, its main action is to reduce the response of the skin to injury (i.e. anti-inflammatory). It also has immunosuppressant & anti-mitotic actions.
Apply Fusidate H Cream as advised by your physician. It is for external use only. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight, and severity of the infection.
Before using Fusidate H Cream, inform your doctor if you are using, have used, or might use any other medicine, including prescription, non-prescription, and herbal medicine.
This preparation is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Fusidic Acid, Hydrocortisone Acetate, or other components of the cream. As with other topical antibiotic/corticosteroid combination preparations, it is contraindicated in bacterial infections due to non-susceptible organisms, fungal infections, tuberculosis of the skin, syphilitic skin infections, chicken pox, eruptions following vaccinations and viral diseases of the skin in general.
The safety of Fusidic Acid and/or topical Hydrocortisone Acetate during pregnancy or lactation has not been established. The use of this cream during pregnancy or lactation requires that the potential benefits be weighed against the risks to the fetus or nursing infant.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before taking Fusidic acid + Hydrocortisone. Do not swallow Fusidic acid + Hydrocortisone. In case of accidental swallowing, please consult a doctor. If you experience blurred vision or other vision disturbances, please consult a doctor. Do not apply Fusidic acid + Hydrocortisone in the eye as it may lead to glaucoma or cataracts. Do not wrap or cover the treated area with bandages unless advised by your doctor as it may increase the risk of adverse effects. Avoid smoking or going near naked flames as the fabric (bedding, clothing, dressings) in contact with Fusidic acid + Hydrocortisone catches fire and burns easily, which is a serious fire hazard. Do not apply Fusidic acid + Hydrocortisone in large amounts or use for a longer time than prescribed as it does not give quick or better results but increases the risk of side effects and makes skin more sensitive to Fusidic acid + Hydrocortisone. If you have rosacea (redness and often red, small, pus-filled bumps on the face), acne, perioral dermatitis (redness and swelling of the skin around the mouth), tuberculosis, diabetes, syphilis (a bacterial infection), chickenpox or sores, athlete’s foot, broken veins or skin ulcers, please inform your doctor before taking Fusidic acid + Hydrocortisone.
